Real feedback from real users before locking in decisions
User testing: the holy grail in the UX process
Let’s get rid of the ‘testing for finding bugs’ mindset. What you should be testing is: are your users accomplishing their goals without having to jump through hoops? We all like a good circus performance but let’s leave that to the acrobats. It’s important to put assumptions to the test and identify pain points before you reach the end of the development. At that point, any changes can be incredibly costly. Stay calm while we provide you with valuable and factual feedback.
5 more reasons to invest in
user testing:
- Ensure the desired outcome of the designs with real user insights
- Safe money and time: any changes after the designing process can be difficult and expensive
- Build a credible business and avoid looking like a doofus in front of your users
- Close the empathy gap: show users that you notice and value them
- Identify pain points early on and provide a delightful user experience
It can be challenging to resist the urge to lead the respondents and keep on your poker face. Especially when you see them struggling with something you’ve designed! Another great reason to involve an external, neutral party.

How we conduct user tests
Based on the process and the desired outcome, we choose and facilitate one or more suitable methods. We develop a solid plan and establish clear criteria for participating respondents. Here are a few examples of the many possibilities:
- Carefully selected users walk through the prototype while observers and note takers document their thought process. With only 5 users you already filter out at least 85% of the pain points. (source)
- A/B testing: 50% of the users experience version A while the other 50% experience version B. This method is especially great for comparing a new version with the old version.
- Heatmaps: a graphical representation of how users interact with each individual page. What they click on, scroll through or ignore. Are your users reaching important content? Why are your users not converting? Heatmaps also help you compare the interaction on different devices.
- And more..
Stay calm and start testing.
Launching designs without user testing is a leap in the dark.
